Linn Benton Lincoln ESD is Hiring a Pooled position for Substitute Instructional Assistant I - Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Lincoln County Near Albany, OR

Substitute Instructional Assistant I for Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE) needed on an on call basis for Lincoln County, Oregon, to work with children, birth to 5 years with special needs. At least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or equivalent. Meet requirements of fingerprint-based criminal history record verification (cost reimbursed after completing 40 hours of service). Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. $16.13 per hour. EOE. Please apply online.

QUALIFICATIONS*

1. At least 18 years of age.
2. High School diploma or equivalent.
3. One year experience working with children in paid or volunteer capacity.
4. Working knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities in children.
5. Valid Oregon Driver’s License and available transportation.
6. Meet requirements of fingerprint-based criminal history record verification.
7. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL*

Support teachers and related professionals in providing a safe and effective classroom environment and in implementing each child’s “Individualized Family Service Plan.”

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES*

The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position. Individual employees may perform all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties.

Essential Functions:
1. Assist in classroom activities as assigned by the teacher.
2. Work with individual children and small groups as assigned by the teacher and/or specialist.
3. Work with children to improve eating, dressing, hygiene and toileting skills, as assigned by the teacher and/or specialist.
4. Assist in implementing individual child programs, collecting child data and reporting the progress of children.
5. Assist and/or lift children with physical disabilities when necessary.
6. Stimulate language through receptive and expressive language programs, and/or augmentative communication strategies.
7. Facilitate peer interaction.
8. Keep teaching materials and other equipment in order.
9. Prepare bulletin boards, room decorations, and other materials as requested.
10. Follow nursing protocols as trained, which may include administering medication and recording seizure activity.
11. Assist with playground and bus duty.
12. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules.

Other Functions:
1. Participate in in-service training and professional grown opportunities as assigned.
2. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
3. Maintain professional dress standards.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS*

1. Strength and agility to assist children with special needs.
2. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
3. Ability to provide own transportation to school, preschools, community settings, as deemed necessary.
4. Must be able to kneel, crouch, and sit on the floor and on child sized furniture while working with children.
5. Must be able to work on the floor and return to a standing position repeatedly.
