Meat Manager- Fresh Meat – The Lingle Corporation

Purpose:

The Meat Manager ensures that the meat department operates at the standards set by the Lingle Company. The goal is to drive sales and maximize profitability. This position provides leadership, expertise, training, and guidance in all facets of the Fresh Meat operations. The Meat Manager is responsible and accountable to direct the meat department associates on all phases of the meat department operations. These include, but are not limited to: product knowledge, ordering product, cold chain / quality assurance, food safety and sanitation, shrink control, product merchandising, and managing a profitable department in all stores. Responsible for analyzing department performance: developing and executing plans meant to improve sales and profitability.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Provide leadership and training to meat department staff, inclusive of hands on demonstration, on all facets of the meat department operations. Teach, train, and reinforce all Lingle Company policies and procedures. Participate in the hiring and training of all meat cutters and meat wrappers.

Lead the implementation of the following as established by the Lingle Corporation; Meat plan o grams, ordering / inventory control, pricing, scale accuracy, dress codes, food safety and sanitation, scheduling, and supply expense control. The goal is to maximize sales and profitability in the department.

Partner with Save A Lot Leadership to develop action plans improving department results through improved levels of performance and merchandising standards at store level that will reinforce the SAL image and brand.

Perform competitive price checks in each market and communicate to Matt, John and Dave.

Ensure daily store conditions are met Lingle Company policy and customer expectations. Protect company property, funds, and merchandise always. Responsible for compliance with all City, State, and Federal requirements.

Leadership Competencies

Strong people leadership capabilities, including the ability to build strong working relationships. Effective communication skills and ability to train individuals. Knowledge of customer, wants and needs that may be unique to each market. Demonstrated expertise in department standards, retail operation metrics and shrink controls. Commands and executes all directives with a sense of urgency.

Must be able to use financial and quantitative data in decision making process. Ability to drive and sustain positive change in the organization.

Holds them self-accountable for achievement of stated Lingle Company goals and objectives. Demonstrates ability to overcome obstacles, tackle tough challenges and put in the extra effort to achieve results.

Adheres to and supports all Lingle Company policies and procedures. Leads others to do the same. Demonstrates consistency between words and actions. Accepts responsibility for their own actions and results.

Job Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age.

A positive attitude coupled with relevant experience, including hand tools and power equipment (slicers, grinders, cubing, and power saw).

Effective communication skills.

Must be dependable and flexible based on the needs of the business.

Must adhere to the Company dress code at all times.

Physical Requirements:

Most work is performed in a temperature controlled environment with a standard temperature of 38-45 degrees.

Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift, and transport various objects weighing up to 30lbs or more repeatedly throughout the shift. At times product may weigh as much as 100lbs.

Must have the ability to stand, walk, and/or move for extended periods of time

Requires the ability to push, pull, grasp and use cutting and sawing motions for extended periods of time.
