Director of Social Services
Sterling Manor in Maple Shade NJ is seeking a FT Director of Social Services to join our team! The position involves the supervision of the social work staff in helping residents with social, emotional, and related fields associated with the medical condition and long-term care goals.
Director of Social Services:
- Supervises the provision of social work services to residents to assist them in their adjustment to their care
- Counsel’s residents, families and staff regarding adjustment to Nursing Facility and related problems;
- Provides Inservice training to staff members on a variety of topics
- Schedules, supervises and evaluates the work of the Social Work Assistants and clerical staff in the department;
- Recommends and initiates policies and procedures following approval by the administration;
- Responsible for hiring and discharging staff under immediate supervision with approval of Administrator;
- Obtain and record social information to develop resident case histories and updates;
- Develops and ensures adherence to the policies regarding the rights and responsibilities of residents;
- Coordinates and supervises Social Work Assistant involvement in interdisciplinary conferences to review care plans and ensure a concise care plan is in effect;
- Manages grievances and/or concerns from residents, families and staff within the requirements of Department of Health regulations.
Qualifications
- Academic: Academic credentials as mandated by NJ licensure requirements
- Licensure: CSW, LSW, LCSW, or LICSW in New Jersey
- Experience: Prior work with elders in a community or long-term care setting
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Social Work Direction
- Skills: The social worker must have skills in communication, assessment and social work methods and techniques. The social worker should be able to work effectively with a variety of disciplines in an individual and team setting. The social worker should have a working understanding of social systems along with the ability to implement pertinent state and federal regulations.
