Position Summary

• To safely administer chemotherapeutic agents and non-chemotherapeutic agents to patients in the Infusion Services Suite. Displays clinical proficiency, which includes the management and safe delivery of age-specific patient centered care (encompassing young adult to geriatric clients) through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of overt and covert changes in clinical conditions of oncology and non-oncology patients in accordance with prescribed standards. Provides care and instruction to patients and families from a basis of specialized knowledge in oncology nursing.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• License/Certifications: Current licensure on the State of Maine Board of Nursing. Current BLS Certification. Oncology Nurse Certification preferred (or attained within three years of hire).
• Experience: Two years nursing experience with one year of Chemotherapy/Oncology nursing.
• ONS Provider Card required.
• ONC Basic Card must be current.
• Articulates elements of professional practice and demonstrates:
• Knowledge of Evidence Based Practice and
• Patient and Family Centered Care
• Understanding of teamwork and collaboration
• Effective verbal/written communication skill
• Knowledge of process improvement and sound safety strategies
• Competence with computer applications
• Completion of departmental competencies within one month of hire.
• Completion of Infusion Services CBO tool, to include Chemotherapy/Biotherapy, within one year of hire
