Lincoln University of Missouri is Hiring a Head Strength and Conditioning Coach Near Jefferson, MO

Purpose:

The Strength and Conditioning coach position will design, implement, and direct sport performance-based curriculum's for select varsity athletics teams. The individual must be proficient in teaching Olympic weightlifting and strength training movements, plyometrics, exercise selection and programming, energy system development, agility drills, speed mechanics, and nutrition.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Performs components of the strength and conditioning programs to include teaching a performance-based curriculum.
  • Instruct student-athletes about physical preparation, health and nutrition, safety and recovery responsibilities.
  • Teach exercise technique to reduce potential injuries.
  • Manages athletic weight room facility.
  • Schedules team and individual training and development sessions.
  • Operates within the guidelines of Lincoln University, Conference and NCAA Rules and Regulations.
  • Maintains facility equipment.
  • Compile and interpret summary data relative to individual and team development.
  • Demonstrates knowledge in gender differences as it relates weight room specifies and exercises.
  • Knowledge and ability to grow and adapt to learn needs.
  • Knowledge and implantation of sport specific exercises to prevent injury.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise a graduate assistant in support with athletic teams training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Education, or related field from accredited four-year college or university required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated a minimum of 1 year of successful coaching experience with Division I or II preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

  • Proven ability to lead and manage people.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and success in teaching the skills and fundamentals of strength curriculum.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
  • The ability to organize and motivate the student-athletes to maximum performance level in sports.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Experience in working with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the institution, MIAA, GLVC, and Division II athletics preferred.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certification in Strength and Conditioning required (Collegiates Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association or National Strength and Conditioning Association).
  • Current certification in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automatic external defibrillator (AED) use is preferred at the time of hire and will be required prior to participation in any countable athletically related activities as defined by the NCAA.

Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, color perception, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Requires the ability to see, smell, and taste.
  • Normal 40 hours work week (8 AM - 5 PM during regular class sessions; 7:30 AM - 6 PM during summer work hours).
  • Overtime work may be required on occasions, dependent on workload and objectives.
  • Travel may be required as it relates to the position's responsibilities.
