Lincoln University of Missouri is Hiring an Adjunct Instructor Pool Near Jefferson, MO

Purpose:

This is a remote Part-time Adjunct Faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences department to teach online general education courses in Social & Behavioral Sciences, Humanities, Communication, Science, Technology, and Mathematics. The courses taught may be either synchronous or asynchronous and the position will require the ability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Essential Job Functions:

The adjunct instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of online classroom instruction and related activities.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and delivers instruction on online courses in the College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Compiles, administers, evaluates, and grades students' online class work, online laboratory work assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently keep students informed about their progress by providing feedback in a timely manner.
  • Develops curricula and instructional material such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts.
  • Maintains online office hours for students seeking academic advice, assists in student retention efforts and assists students with course-related problems outside of the classroom.
  • Maintains accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations as well as University policy.
  • Keeps abreast of teaching developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional development activities.
  • Participates remotely in meetings, when needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  1. Ph.D. or a terminal degree in one of Mathematics, Computer Science, Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, History, Political Science, Philosophy, English, Art, Foreign Languages, and Music preferred.
  2. A master's degree or 18 (eighteen) graduate hours in one of the relevant areas listed above is required.
  3. Two or more years of prior teaching experience at the collegiate level is required.
  4. Excellent communication skills and a proven record of excellent performance in a technological environment is required.
  5. It is preferred that the candidate have experience with online instructional standards like Quality Matters (QM) and with the use of a learning management system (LMS).
  6. Experience in various pedagogical teaching techniques is a plus.
  7. The ability to work with a diverse student and faculty body is desired.
