Established General Engineering Contractor seeking motivated, professional, and career minded Civil Construction Project Manager / Estimator for our San Luis Obispo office location.
Looking for Underground Wet Utilities, Pump Stations, Lift Stations, Water Pipeline, and Public Works experience.
Responsibilities would be as a Civil Division Project Manager. This position must possess the willingness and skills
to effectively fulfill the duties outlined below which enhance the probability of success on the projects undertaken
by the Company. This position will require the fundamentals and duties including, but not limited to:

The Project Manager Position would include the following:
Planning, organizing, directing and controlling of projects with various duties to include; buyout &
coordination for purchase orders, negotiating with and development of subcontracts, coordinating and
meeting with owner representatives on a regular basis, organization of and written documentation of all RFI’s/Submittals/Schedules/Change Orders/Claims/Correspondence, coordination with maintenance of as-
built drawings, draft billings, and development of CPM schedules with monthly schedule updates and associated narratives.
The PM position takes ownership & responsibility for the projects under his control.
Provide mentorship to Project Engineers with clarity which develops their skill set toward techniques and
tasks that meaningfully support a Project Manager.
Manage and be responsible for the field superintendents and foreman who supervise and direct in-house
craft labor & subcontractors. When in the field, inspect ongoing work for conformity to the Contract
Documents, assist superintendents with task problem solving, reinforce project safety which may include
Written Warnings to personnel for safety &/or behavioral deficiencies.
Assist in equipment procurement decisions. Reinforce field maintenance duties of company equipment.
Reports to and works directly with the Civil Division Vice President and company President.
This position also would include participating in the Bid Process and Estimating work. This would include the
following:
Utilize InEight/Hard Dollar estimating program, resource inputs, and manipulation.
Ability to seek out upcoming projects to bid through trade journals, newspaper notices, electronic media
sources and/or District/City contacts.
Attend pre-construction job walks and analyze the elements necessary to formulate constructability.
Exhibit a high-level of proficiency to breakdown project plans into work sequences compatible with the
project bid items, conduct material takeoffs to secure vendor pricing, and generally estimate the project
costs pertaining to SCI labor, material, equipment, and subcontract costs.
The position requires the ability to discern and ascertain elements of risk unique to each project based on
the Owner supplied data (plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, environmental mitigation parameters,
etc.).
The position requires an understanding of sophisticated process equipment and the ability to communicate
with vendors or suppliers to understand the costs associated with proper installation and operation.
The position requires the ability to intelligently converse with engineers, architects, owners and
management concerns, all toward a complete and accurate estimate.
Education - Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related
field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Proficiency with all MS Office products, Procore, and Bluebeam
Understanding of scheduling software, Primavera P6
Working knowledge of civil construction equipment and techniques, drawing and specifications, building
materials and required standards applicable to discipline.
Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
