Job Description: Production Supervisor – Crockett, TX

Job Summary

The Production Supervisor -Log Yard will directly supervise day-to-day production operations at the plant. This role is responsible for managing employees, implementing the daily production schedule, arranging maintenance, maintaining production records, monitoring cleanliness, and ensuring all procedures/policies/regulations are followed during production.

The Production Supervisor reports to the Plant Manager.

Duties/ Responsibilities

• Ensure all employees are working safely and following safety guidelines including PPE compliance
• Conduct safety meetings
• Assess employee job training needs and lead training activities
• Implement and track daily production schedule and maximize mill output
• Follow up quality checks on each machine center
• Administer corrective action plans
• Create and maintain individual employee work record to include lateness, absenteeism, and documentation of work issues
• Maintain daily production records
• Communicate daily production schedule to lead person and lift operators
• Resolve any conflicts between employees and manage disciplinary process
• Monitor mill cleanliness and emergency response readiness
• Schedule maintenance of equipment and ensure pre/post maintenance procedures are followed.
• Perform a daily walk through at end of day to verify shut down procedures have been adhered to

Preferred Skill Set

• Some working knowledge of pine logs
• Ability to measure and scale incoming log trucks.
• Ensure delivered logs are within mill specifications.
• Ability to calculate log deductions according to company guidelines
• Accurate reporting and inventorying of log inventory.

• Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of working outside in hot or cold weather depending on the season
• Must be able to handle moderate to loud noise
• Must be able to travel over irregular terrain
