Lincoln County Schools is Hiring an Autism and Behavior Specialist - LCS- EC Near Lincolnton, NC

Date: May 3, 2024

Position: Autism and Behavior Specialist

Location: Exceptional Children's Department


Terms of Contract: 11 months, full-time, benefit eligible


Reports To: Chief of Exceptional Children's Services


Monthly Salary:
Supervisor Pay Scale (plus local supplement)

FLSA: EXEMPT


Qualifications/Requirements:
BA degree and or Master’s Level Degree, current NC license, hold or be eligible to hold BCBA credential, 5 years previous experience working with Exceptional Children; expertise of Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities; experience with conducting functional behavior assessments & developing/implementing behavior intervention plans; competency with data collection & analysis; competency in organizing & facilitating specialized teams


Goal:
To plan, coordinate and support programs in the Department of Exceptional Children with the Chief of Exceptional Children’s Services.


Duties:

  • Assists the Chief of Exceptional Children in the implementation of state and federal policies.
  • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities
  • Serves as a resource for teachers following extended content standards
  • Collects district data and assists in analyzing data trends to determine strengths and weaknesses of the EC Department in order to guide departmental policies, action plans, and practices
  • Collaborates with EC management in developing and reporting on any district continuous improvement data analysis reports and action plans required by NCDPI’s Office of Exceptional Children
  • Participates in the development, presentation, and facilitation of EC departmental meetings
  • Participates in the hiring processes for district level EC support staff as needed
  • Performs EC support staff observations and evaluations as assigned
  • Conducts observations, provides feedback, facilitates problem solving, and collaborates with school administrators and school staff
  • Assists school staff with interpretation of student data
  • Serves as the assigned compliance specialist for the alternative school of LCS
  • Writes, manages, and reports on the PRC 29 grant
  • Attends local, regional, and state PRC 29 Behavior Support meetings, workshops, and conferences
  • Facilitates and oversees the Behavior Support Staff regarding the PRC 29 caseload, student needs, and supervision
  • Writes, manages, and reports on the PRC 118 Autism grant
  • Facilitates, organizes, and manages the District Autism Team
  • Conducts fidelity checks regarding evidence-based practices
  • Attends local, regional, and state Autism Team support meetings, workshops, and conferences
  • Completes and maintains CPI Certification to serve as a CPI Trainer
  • Organizes, oversees, and conducts Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI)
  • Organizes and provides professional development to all stakeholders
  • Provides consultation and coaching to staff regarding evidence-based interventions and curricula
  • Supports EC staff with Functional Behavioral Assessments, as well as the development and implementation of Behavioral Intervention Plans
  • Provides data collection tools and coaches staff on their use and analysis
  • Supports EC staff with state and federal policies and procedures
  • Attends Individual Education Plan meetings as needed
  • Participates in Child & Family Team meetings
  • Serves as a resource and support for Lincoln County Schools district staff and participates in district initiatives as assigned
  • Attends district Student Support Team Meetings
  • Attends district Placement Team Meetings
  • Functions as the EC Liaison to the district’s Mental Health Coordinator
  • Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of forces frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Exceptional Children
