Brief Job Summary

This position is responsible for the determination of client eligibility for various income maintenance programs.


Job Responsibilities

Receives and processes applications for assigned agency programs.
Keys and inputs client information; researches and verifies client information as needed.
Makes determinations regarding client eligibility for program services; ensures determinations are in compliance with program and agencies policies and guidelines.
Acts on all changes to client status, including adding or removing household members, changes to income, changes to address or rent, etc.
Processes eligibility redeterminations as required.
Closes cases per client requests.
Conducts face-to-face and phone interviews with clients or their representatives.
Registers new clients; updates client demographic information.
Maintains case files, records, and documentation.
Troubleshoots and resolve case problems.
Researches, interprets, and applies program policies.
Completes program-specific training on policy principles and updates.
Prepares and sends forms and notices.
Reviews client medical bills and other documents to determine if charges are allowable.
Refers possible cases of fraud for investigation.
Operates a county vehicle to transport clients to approved destinations.
Performs related duties.


Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field; and
Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years; or
Graduation from high school and two years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact experience which includes negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling data, analyzing data, and performing mathematical tasks.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
