Functioning within the Health System’s mission, vision, values, policies and procedures. The LPN functions as a partner to the Registered Nurse with the goal of providing quality patient care. The LPN responsibilities include collecting data, implementing and evaluating nursing care. The LPN is responsible for providing care to an assigned group of patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Must observe, plan, implement, and evaluate the patient’s response to care based upon clinical skills. Patient care will be delivered by the LPN who is partnered with one or two other caregivers that may include an RN, another LPN, and/or a PCT. The LPN is responsible for delegating appropriate tasks to the LPN/PCT partners(s). On call response time required within sixty (60) minutes.
Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Basic Cardiac Dysrhythmia class is required within 6 months of hire. Intermediate Cardiac Dysrhythmia Class required within 1 year of hire.
Licensure/Certification: Must have a valid unrestricted LPN license for the State of Ohio. Current BLS required. ACLS required or obtained within 6 months of hire.
Experience: One to three years’ experience specific to physician office practice or Health System preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes and be “on call” per department requirements. Be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress. Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be able to print and write legibly and accurately. Possess the ability to calculate simple mathematics and follow instructions. Must have pre and post-care knowledge of patients undergoing a cardiac or vascular procedure. Will be required to cover in other departments as needed.
