Description
Tasks Required of a Coax Splicer:
· Utilize proper techniques to splice Coax cable.
· Troubleshooting of Coax utilizing a TDR or volt/OHM Meter.
· Forward & Reverse Activation, Node optimization
· Strong communication skills required between splicer and tech ops manager so that problems can be addressed as soon as possible.
· Proper record keeping and be able to review cable records as necessary.
· Knowledge, understanding and practice of safety regulations within OSHA, NESC, and NEC, and other construction related guidelines.
· Work outdoors as needed.
· Be able to iterate to the project/construction managers detailed accounts of field activity, both verbal and written.
· Coordinate with tech ops managers to verify and perform work as directed.
· Night work as needed for things like node splits.
· Able to be on call for emergencies involving damaged cable.
Knowledge required of a Coax Splicer:
· Telecommunications — Knowledge of transmission and CATV telecommunications systems.
· Public Safety — Knowledge of keeping work area safe to the public.
· Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware/software for keeping proper records.
Requirements
Requirements to become a Coax Splicer:
· Must own a bucket truck
· Must own a D Sam 6300 or equivalent Meter
· Have your own coring tools
· Must have proper insurances per our insurance specifications
