Light of Chance, Incorporated (www.lightofchance.org) is a creative and innovative non-profit organization founded in 2005 that specializes in youth development.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

• Demonstrating methods and techniques of dances.
• Form various dance curriculum and implementation of different developmental activities.
• Observe and rectify students’ mistake.
• Providing a safe environment—physical, emotional, and psychological
• Showing respect for all students through the use of encouraging language in offering positive reinforcement, constructive criticism, and acknowledgment of achievements.
• Review all students and evaluate their progress.
• Offering challenges that will raise them to the next level.
• Encouraging them to progress to next level and/or teacher.
• Making everyone, regardless of ability level, feel included.
• Interact with under-served and vulnerable youth populations.
• Develop positive relationships with the youth involved.
• Acts as a positive role model.
• Assist with special events.
• Work directly with Executive Director
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicant must exhibit interest in dance and community outreach programs. In addition, must be willing to undergo a criminal history background check. The applicant must be self-motivated and accountable. He or she will have proven initiative and will have utilized innovative approaches. The ideal candidate will be flexible with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will be able to work successfully under pressure and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Team-oriented, flexible, enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated to the formation and philosophy of the development of youth.
• Ability to establish and maintain personal and programmatic boundaries while providing supportive services
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to individuals who may not share basic commonality, including value systems and behavior norms.
• Experience in working with culturally diverse communities and families, with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate.
• Demonstrate good writing and organizational skills as well as strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, video production applications, and social networking.
• A valid state driver's license, a satisfactory driving record and reliable transportation.

ABOUT BREATHE:

Launched in 2012, Breathe provides free fall, spring, and summer arts sessions for grades 5-12 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Breathe Youth Arts Program is a community-based, youth development program that cultivates creativity while providing a positive environment for youth to express themselves, engage in dialogue about important issues, and experience personal and social transformation through the arts. The program provides constructive creative outlets, encourages cooperation, and teamwork; as well as teaches artistic and social skills in an environment where youth are valued and celebrated.
