Light Action Productions, a full-service production company in Wilmington, DE is seeking an Electronic Repair Technician. The Electronic Repair Technician is responsible for maintaining the readiness of the company’s full inventory of equipment such as lights, video panels, CM chain hoists and other electronic equipment used in producing a live event.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Inspection & maintenance of equipment, moving lights, dimming systems, LED video walls, hoist control systems & chain hoists.
• Repairing & trouble shooting of AC & DC circuits including plugs, breakers, transformers, printed circuit boards, wire harnesses and mechanical systems.
• Maintain accurate repair records for time, cost, and warranty support.
• Develop pro-active regular maintenance of all equipment.
• Collaborate with production staff to ensure timely repair of show critical equipment.
• Pre-show preparation of equipment including configuration, testing and labeling.
• Troubleshoot all equipment to the component level.
• Prioritize and work quickly with a "show must go on" attitude.
• Fully utilize all standard hand tools and electronic testing equipment.
• Initiate ESD protection, when required.
• Pro-actively check for software patches and keeping updated on current products.
• Review manufacturers’ online support sites, wire schematics, parts and disassembly instructions to ensure actions meet with manufacturer guidelines.
• Verify that a problem is repairable with a logical approach to all work.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and parts lists is critical.
• Knowledge of 110V, 220V & 208V 3 phase power systems is paramount.
• Knowledge of simple electrical contact motor controllers
• Must have fine soldering skills
• Basic electrical troubleshooting is required
• Report obstacles timely to facilitate resolution
• Multi-tasking and ability to manage several repair projects simultaneously
• Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and priorities
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
• Regular consistent attendance and punctuality
• Good organizational skills with excellent attention to details, accuracy and quality
• Must be able to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Must be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment

JOB TYPE: Full-time

EXPERIENCE:

• Required: 3 years hands on work experience with electronic repair and board level diagnostics
• Preferred: 1-3 years with Vari-Lite, Clay Paky, Martin, Coemar, GLP, MA Lighting, Avolite or CM products.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma or GED
• Formal electronics education Associate's Degree, military or technical school required

SCHEDULE:

• Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
• Frequent overtime, evenings, holidays, and weekends

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
• IPC J-STD-001 Certified IPC Specialist (Preferred)

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands, talk, hear and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Employee must have the ability to bend, walk, and stoop. Employee will have frequent use of hands (e.g., use of a computer keyboard, equipment, etc.). Employee must have mobility and manual dexterity. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms. Employee will be required to lift, push, pull, and carry for appreciable distances a minimum of 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee must have the ability to verbally effectively communicate with staff and customers. The employee must have the ability to stay alert and attentive at all times and operate a computer, phone and essential equipment as required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
