LifeWorks NW is Hiring a Child and Family Mental Health Therapist, Community Based #682 Near Portland, OR

The Mental Health Therapist supports children and adolescents ages 3 to 18 experiencing a mental health crisis. Provides community-based crisis response to families, children, and adolescents with mental health concerns. Therapist on this team work with a multidisciplinary team and have small caseloads.

QMHPs at this LifeWorks NW site qualify for the Oregon Health Authority : Health Care Provider Incentive Program : Primary Care Office : State of Oregon and/or the Oregon Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program.

Licensure supervision provided. 

Pay/Benefits: $65,349 starting annual salary plus Full benefits. Additional differential for bilingual Spanish proficiency. 

Location: This position is based out of LifeWorks NW's King site. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Requires access to a car and valid driver's license.
  • Staff in this program rotate responsibility for afterhours crisis support, mostly by phone and occasionally in person (receive $250 stipend per week when carrying crisis phone). 
  • Responds to emergency situations involving children experiencing mental health crisis.
  • Performs client evaluations and risk assessments, develops a short-term stabilization or safety plan to relieve the present mental health crisis and to provide a stable environment for clients. Provides follow up contact as developed in the stabilization or safety plan.
  • Provides referral services to clients and their families, e.g., health, mental health services, community supports, etc. Maintains awareness of community referral resources.
  • Assists staff members by helping to resolve difficult emergency situations and serves as backup for other staff when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Requires access to a car and valid driver's license.
  • This position requires a valid and active QMHP credential certification through MHACBO or a valid and active status (licensed or registered intern) with an approved Oregon licensing board.
  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work or a mental health related field, etc.
  • Must have experience in de-escalating clients and risk/suicide assessment. Initial crisis management trainings and ongoing trainings provided in family and individual therapy.
