Will be primarily responsible for daily center-based program functioning while assisting the Region Manager in providing leadership and implementing assigned functions of the site in the areas of child and family services, transportation/vehicles, facilities, food services, inventory, and child safety, to provide reliable, healthy and safe services to children and families, and to support the goals of the program.

Job Duties:

• Ensures that the site complies with New York State Day Care Regulations at all times. This will include child-adult ratio in the classrooms, direct supervision of children by staff, monthly inspections of premises, conduct and track fire drills and all site inspections and all required documentation
• Ensures compliance on Head Start Performance Standards, New York State Child Care Licensing and NYS UPK regulations.

· Assists the Region Manager in encouraging parent involvement in all facets of the program and in developing and maintaining positive community relations.

· Supports the Region Manager and Service Area Managers in the area of supervision and training. Evening and weekend work may be required for parent and family events.

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

• 1 year supervising staff plus, 1 year full-time teaching experience in an early childhood program with a Bachelor’s Degree which must include 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field.
• Or 2 years of experience supervising staff & 2 years full-time teaching experience in an early childhood program with an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood or 60 credits (to include 12 credits in early childhood) & a 2 year plan of study leading to a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Knowledge and experience with New York State Day Care Licensing regulations, NYS UPK regulations and best practices related to early childhood education. Head Start experience is a plus.

· Must have or be willing to obtain and maintain Basic First Aid, CPR and MAT (Medication Administration Training) Certification. Required to be MAT trained and certified to pass medications.

· Provide customer service that is responsive to the unique needs and culture of families, such as single parents, grandparents as caregivers, co-parenting relationships, LGTBQ families, non-English speaking, teen parents, domestic violence situations and more.

· Above average computer, organizational and communication skills, ability to work as a member of a team, good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain professionalism with staff and clientele.
