LIFESPAN Services is hiring a compassionate, hardworking, organized, friendly, and reliable Qualified Professional to coordinate, oversee and supervise activities and personnel involved in I/DD (Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities) enrichment program, ensuring compliance with relative rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 40 hours per week

Location: Onsite - 908 McClellan Place, Greensboro, NC 27409

Pay: Starts at $20.00 per hour plus benefits

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure Staff/Individual ratio is accurate and matches service order.
  • Serve as an advocate for the individuals we serve.
  • Perform and/or assist with parts of various problem-solving duties which occur, including studying the situation, developing possible solutions, investigating options/resources, deciding on most appropriate plan for solution, and implementing approved plan of action.
  • Provide training to other employees by demonstration, repetition, modeling, large group training, etc.
  • Coach staff in working with individuals on a regular basis to access, instruct and model
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of individuals and groups including the individuals we serve, supervisors, families/guardians, consultants, case managers, psychologists, therapists, representatives of Local Management Entity (LME), etc.
  • Ensure DD goals are being implemented correctly by direct care staff.
  • Ensure supervision of DD Trainers meets standards.
  • Communicate appropriate recommendations and/or needs to Program Director and/or Executive Management.
  • Coordinate objectives and meet deadlines for the implementation of Service Plans/Plans of Care.
  • Participate in strategic planning process for DD programs.
  • Develop and implement objectives and oversee data collection.
  • Must be able to draft a plan of care and write task analysis. Document progress on at least a quarterly basis.
  • Willing to train families and small groups and assist with Preservice Training.
  • Assist with the coordination of new admissions and transfers (e.g. screening applicants, conducting tours, facilitating placement, etc).
  • Ensure the program is following the proper procedures for providing services and that it meets all guidelines based on state standards funding source.
  • Ensure that all direct care staff are qualified and properly trained as per state standards, to work with our individuals, based on their needs.
  • Ensure all direct care staff meet the Core Competencies/other required training prior to authorizing documentation.
  • Ensure billing information is completed accurately and in a timely basis.
  • Ensure payroll authorizations are completed accurately.
  • Ensure mileage authorizations are completed accurately.
  • Ensure documentation standards are met according to State, Medicaid and regulatory standards.
  • Document conversations with parent/guardians, case managers and other parties as appropriate.
  • Review and sign documentation on a monthly basis (at a minimum) and have available for monthly monitoring visits.
  • Review, revise and assist in developing LIFESPAN Policies and Procedures as it relates to DD services.
  • Ensure skill development is being achieved for each individual.
  • Assist with and/or responsible for screening, interviewing and selecting new staff.
  • Create and submit accurate employee status changes in a timely manner.
  • Monitor ongoing case management needs; problem solve and refer accordingly.
  • Manage staff on a day-to-day basis; address and document performance issues in a timely manner.
  • Ensure Health and Safety and Incident Reporting requirements are upheld.
  • Monitor Health and Safety, quality and client rights of individual client services through site visits, review of documentation, consumer satisfaction and other contacts with significant others.
  • Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all LIFESPAN safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

What you need:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check
  • Pass driving record check if providing transportation
  • Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)
  • “Qualified Professional” means, within the mh/dd/sas system of care;

a. An individual who holds a license, provisional license, certificate, registration, or permit issued by the governing board regulating a human service profession, except a registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of NC by the NC Board of nursing who also has four years of full time accumulated experience in mh/dd/sa with the population served; or

b. A graduate of a college or university with a Master’s degree in a human service field and has one year of full time, post graduate degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has one year of full time, post graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or

c. A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a human service field and has two years of full time, post bachelor’s degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has two years of full time, post bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling; or

d. A graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services and has four years of full time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated mh/dd/sa experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional who has four years of full time, post bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling.
