Primary Responsibility:

The Behavioral Health Specialist provides behavioral health services to LifeMoves clients, including therapy, triage, documentation, consultation, crisis intervention, and other related duties. Time allowing, they may also support with programmatic and administrative needs.

Duties Include:

  • Provide comprehensive assessment, evaluation, crisis intervention and psychotherapy to clients with mental health and behavioral health needs via telemedicine and/or in person
  • Use evidence-based models for treatment, including but not limited to CBT, ACT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, behavioral activation, harm reduction, and motivational interviewing
  • Develop a comprehensive, individualized treatment plan and goals for each assigned client; updating and modifying as needs change
  • Work closely and collaboratively within a team to provide support and coordination in addressing needs that are barriers to effective treatment and the client’s ability to thrive
  • Provide linkage to community-based therapeutic resources as needed
  • Provide milieu therapy support at 1-2 select programs as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation according to established protocols
  • Conduct triage with referred clients to assess, determine appropriate services, and manage waitlist
  • Participate in individual/group supervision and team meetings to review client caseload, treatment, concerns, and recommendations
  • Maintain positive, ethical, and professional working relationships with community, government agencies, and other professionals
  • Perform other duties as required within the scope of the position and the experience, education and ability of the employee.
  • Time allowing, provide administrative support to the MSW Program and/or Behavioral Health Program


Position Qualifications

  • In progress toward MSW or Doctoral Psychology degree
  • Strong writing skills
  • At least one year of experience working with a disenfranchised population, treating individuals and families in crisis, especially those who have experienced trauma.
  • Some knowledge of clinical theory and brief evidence-based behavioral interventions.
  • A foundation in the ideas and practices that promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; and a commitment to ongoing professional development in this area.
  • Effective communicator and skilled in maintaining relationships within the agency and with external stakeholders.
