Summary:

The Quality Review Coordinator - Vascular is responsible for assuring that standards for division specific activities related to organ recovery have been met thereby ensuring the safety and quality of organs recovered. Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: medical review of donor charts, participate in audits to ensure compliance with SOP’s and regulatory standards, maintenance of environmental monitoring records, assist in training of OPO staff and assist in the collection of data for QAPI and reporting purposes.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for complete and accurate medical audit of all vascular donor charts, to include donor, non-donor and import charts.
• Supports Manager of QA/PI in designated responsibilities including, but not limited to, UNOS reporting requirements, special reports, weekly OPO data, OPO personnel education, policy review and updates, and audit preparation.
• Assists as directed in regard to all aspects of division specific organ activity and quality review projects.
• Performs audits of division specific activities as they relate to organ recovery and documentation to ensure compliance with all governing organizations and SOP’s: including but not limited to, donor charts, donor logs, and training records.
• In conjunction with Manager of QAPI, will handle and package donor serological specimens (blood/serum) for additional donor testing and/or archive in accordance with OPO protocols.
• Coordinates with Recovery Services and QA personnel to ensure all required documentation is accurate and complete within LL SOP.
• Assists with inspections from governing organizations including, but not limited to, UNOS, AOPO and CMS.
• Remains informed of developments in quality and regulatory issues as they relate to organ recovery through literature, attending seminars and/or conferences and disseminating such information to OPO personnel.

Specifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, degree in Allied Science (RN, LPN, ORT, EMT, CST) and/or at least 3 years of experience in a healthcare related background preferred.
• Experience with Quality Assurance processes.
• Ability to analyze documentation and identify breaches in policy.
• Strong communication and writing skills.
• Mental ability and visual acuity to prepare and audit records and identify breaches in policy.
• Knowledge of the regulatory and quality standards established by UNOS, AOPO and CMS desirable.
