Job Summary:
LifeLine Ambulance is seeking a qualified EMS Coordinator for the Illinois region (Skokie, Chicago, Carol Stream). The EMS Coordinator serves as a liaison between IMMC our resource hospital, EMS field personnel, and other providers of emergency services. In this role your job is to ensure that our staff is ready to respond quickly and efficiently to emergency & non-emergency needs in accordance with the EMS System & IDPH. You will also strive to improve on the quality of services we provide by building stronger relationships and communication with outside agencies.
A successful EMS Coordinator has excellent interpersonal skills, is organized and detail-oriented, can educate EMTs & Paramedics, maintain records & work in a rapidly growing environment.
Essential Job Responsibilities/Functions:
Effectively communicate with resource hospital and IDPH on all related EMS issues, compliancy, complaints etc.
Evaluate patient care reports for EMS system.
Obtain and maintain records of field personnel’s EMS licenses & certifications in conjunction with Human Resources.
Creates, oversees and maintainsFTO program in conjunction with Operations Managers.
Maintain/track & replenish EMS medications & narcotics in accordance with EMS system policies.
Assess/Educate/Train/Remediate new and existing field personnel on EMS system policies & skills and paperwork.
Oversight of IDPH inspections with the Operations Manager.
Facilitate biweekly new hire orientation in conjunction with Human Resources and completes EMS system entry and skills with new field personnel.
Develops continuing education for current LifeLine employees.
Teaches EMT 1 and 1 classes, which allows EMT's to work ALS.
Serves as a resource to other departments as needed.
May occasionally work on an ambulance on an as needed basis.
Minimum Requirements:
Current Illinois Licensed EMT-Paramedic or Higher for a minimum of 5 years
Minimum of 1-year experience as an EMS coordinator
Current IDPH Lead Instructor licensure and National Association of Emergency Medical System Educators (NAEMSE) instructor, Part I Certification
American Heart Association BLS instructor certification preferred, but not required.
Critical Care experience preferred but not required
Ability to effectively educate others to processes & test their abilities to perform
Organized & Detail oriented
Ability to use Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint & Word
Excellent communication skills in writing & public speaking
Reliable vehicle as some travel will be required (less than 40%) for meetings and equipment/medication exchanges/replacements
Good interpersonal skills
Good decision-making skills
