What is Lifebanc?

Lifebanc, is the federally designated organ, eye and tissue recovery organization that serves 20 counties in Northeast Ohio. Put simply, we facilitate and coordinate organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation in our community and educate the public on the importance of our mission. Position Description:

This position is responsible for supporting the mission, strategic initiatives, and goals of Lifebanc through the oversight and direction to the finance team functions of the organization. The Director of Finance is responsible for day-to-day activities of the finance team. Primary contact for the Finance department employees.

Essential Functions:

Partners with the Finance team to ensure all daily activities of the finance team are accurate and completed in a timely manner.

  • Ensuresworkperformedis compliant with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct month-end close procedures, including reconciliation of accounts and preparation of specific financial reports as instructed by the Senior Director of Finance.
  • Point of contact for vendors with questions regarding payment and/or billing.
  • Provides backup to all day-to-day functions of the Finance Department.
  • Providesoversight,direction,andtrainingto Finance Department staff in the performance of their daily activities related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and general ledger accounting.

Completes all financial reporting and analyses to ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial results and sound fiscal operations.

  • Responsible for the completion and timeliness of the monthly and year end close. 
  • Collaborates with the Senior Director of Finance to preparethe annual Medicare Cost Report in accordance with applicable Federal regulations and to ensure maximum reimbursement through the Medicare program.
  • Assist withthe completion of the annual operating budget to ensure financial plans are prepared in an accurate and timely manner and are consistent with established goals and strategic initiatives.

Partners with the Senior Director of Finance for preparations of all audits of Lifebanc’s financial information. 

  • Coordinatesthe audit of Lifebanc’s Medicare Cost Report with the Medicare provider intermediary. Ensures auditors receive all information necessary for successful completion of the cost report audit.
  • ReviewsadjustmentsmadebyMedicare provider intermediary to determine their accuracy and appropriateness. Appeals adjustments, as necessary, to ensure the maximum allowable reimbursement.

Partners with the Senior Director of Finance to ensure the safeguards of the assets and financial records of the organization.

  • ManagesLifebanc’ssystemof internal accounting controls to provide effective safeguarding of assets.
  • Managesthe recordkeeping for fixed assets to ensure the complete and accurate accounting for Lifebanc property. Supervises the periodic inventory of fixed assets and reconciliation of inventory to accounting records.

Performs various other functions, as follows:

  • Developsandmaintainseffectiverelationshipswith managers, directors, and senior teams.
  • Projects as designated by the Senior Director of Finance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’sdegree in accounting or financerequired.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in Accounting/Finance with a strong background in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.
  • 3-5 years of previous supervisory experience.
  • ExperiencewithPC based accounting systems.
  • Previousexperiencein the Organ Procurement industry and/ or the non-profit sector is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Strongtime management skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, ensuring work is performed in the most efficient manner and that deadlines are met.
  • Sufficientattentionto detail to ensure complete accuracy of financial data.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of financial and personnel related information.
