POSITION SUMMARY: 

Strategic partner with all vendors responsible for developing a technical vendor scorecard ensuring vendor compliance and essential food safety/food quality programs are in place meeting corporate policies, procedures, and Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Establish relationships with vendors as the single contact person that communicates ingredient and packaging materials meet corporate requirements and regulations
  • Monitors Trace Gains and reviews CoA compliance and ensures accuracy and compliance. Contacts vendor to address any CoA noncompliance issues prior to sending information to plants
  • Coordinates and collects all vendor audit information and vendor food safety /food quality programs
  • Coordinates on site visits to “high risk” ingredients ensuring raw material compliance
  • Reviews vendor third party audits and programs working with the Regulatory manager for approving or obtaining correct information
  • Via Trace Gains, monitor and document non-compliant occurrences for all issues with vendors
  • Facilitate any non-complaint issues with the quality groups at each location and the vendor
  • Monitor and advise of any Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements and updates
  • Main contact for Trace Gains and maintains and updates templates accordingly
  • Maintain an active vendor register and scorecard
  • Report raw material, food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • BS/BA degree in microbiology or related field
  • 5 years’ experience working in a Food Quality or R&D role
  • Good understanding of food microbiology, chemistry and physical science
  • Able to organize work and manage database systems
  • Strong computer skills with experience with Trace Gains and MS Excel
  • Must have strong organizational skills and attention to high level accuracy & detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, with limited supervision while also actively participating in team environment
  • Excellent communication skills and problem solving ability
  • Ability to travel to high-risk ingredient vendors and to other facilities as needed

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:

  • Long periods of standing/moving, working around moving mechanical parts/conveyors
  • Loud environment, hot/cold, wet/dry conditions
  • Lifting/carrying <50 pounds
  • Frequent reaching/pulling/climbing stairs/stooping/kneeling/bending
