The position is located in the Library of Congress (Library) Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The OIG is responsible for conducting audits, inspections/evaluations, and other reviews of Library programs and operations, including Information Technology (IT) programs and systems. IT engagements involve planning, conducting, and reporting on findings and recommendations to increase IT security, economy, efficiency, and effectiveness. IT engagements involve extensive activities pertaining to complex IT systems that affect the direction of Library IT operations over a number of years. The auditor provides input in formulating the engagement plan, applying conventional techniques as part of gathering and analyzing data, preparing written products, and making oral presentations. The auditor, using subject matter expertise, interacts regularly with OIG colleagues, other employees of the Library, and other officials to provide advice, guidance and recommendations. The auditor, working individually or as a part of a team, adheres to OIG policies and procedures and applicable standards (e.g., the Government Accountability Office's Government Auditing Standards, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants standards, and/or the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency standards).
