Liberty University is Hiring a Director of Student Support Near Lynchburg, VA

The Director of Student Support manages the situations and support needs of the School of Education student body. This position acts as the liaison between multiple different departments at the university to facilitate accurate and timely resolution of various student circumstances.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Facilitating student appeals.

2. Facilitating School of Education online prerequisite override, late registration, and course override requests.

3. Ensuring Enrollment Management and other departments receive School of Education updates.

4. Serving as the primary School of Education point-of-contact for Enrollment Management and the Registrar’s Office.

5. Serving as the primary point of contact for escalated and/or complicated student situations.

6. Maintaining the SOEonline@liberty.edu and other School of Education inboxes.

7. Maintaining and updating the School of Education webpages and Canvas Licensure Resource Community.

8. Maintaining and updating the School of Education Resources SharePoint site.

9. Reporting perceived administrative and curricular deficiencies to the presiding academic authority.

10. Training staff in university policy.

11. Completing student contact projects as needed.

12. Providing general student support wherever needed.

13. Evaluating the student experience via multiple student feedback channels.

14. Providing operational support to the academic administration.

15. Providing support to chairs and deans in student support situations.

16. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Credentials, and Competencies

Minimum:

1. A master's degree in a relevant field

2. 2-3 years' administrative experience in higher education

3. An understanding of university policies and academic administration required.

4. Prior experience working with teacher licensure processes

Preferred:

1. 3 years of customer service experience, preferably in higher education

2. 4-5 years of administrative experience in higher education preferred

Abilities and Competencies Essential to the Function of the Job

Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Excellent computer and organizational skills. Regularly lift 10 or fewer pounds.

Communication and Comprehension:

1. Capability to represent the department and university in a professional manner

2. Ability to de-escalate complicated situations

3. Ability to explain nuanced teacher licensure and university policies in an easy-to-understand manner to students and staff

4. Ability to quickly and comprehensively grasp new policies and resources

5. Ability to coordinate time sensitive functions across multiple departments

6. Ability to quickly discover and implement solutions for student situations that may be obscure and/or escalated
