Liberty Tire Recycling is Hiring a Safety Specialist Near Midlothian, TX

- JOB SUMMARY:

This person will provide technical safety and health support to the site leadership and all members of the site-based team. The individual works in conjunction with others to develop and roll out the site’s health programs, to coordinate and deliver safety training, and to conduct daily/weekly and monthly safety audits. The successful candidate will be very active in the daily operations and will ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations. This is a hands-on position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Effectively communicates with all levels of the site team
  • Provides technical safety, health support and information to the site leadership team
  • Researches and prepares written safety and health procedures and policies
  • Identifies site safety training needs, coordinates, tracks, and facilitates safety training programs
  • Develops and supports JSAs, SOPs, KPIs, Strategic Planning, Injury Statistics, Operation Clean

Sweep Events, Daily Safety Talks, and other written safety documentation

  • Maintains the site’s OSHA 300 Log and reporting requirements
  • Participates in new product/process assessments to improve operations and minimize personal risk
  • Interfaces with corporate safety staff to ensure implementation of corporate safety initiatives
  • Participates in safety reviews and provides leadership to the site safety committee
  • Conducts risk assessments and collaborates with site leadership and staff to develop strategies and policies to mitigate safety risks
  • Conducts incident investigations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Champion the Liberty Learning initiative, (Online safety training)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in any safety field, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety science, environmental health and safety, manufacturing/industrial technology, industrial hygiene discipline or other related education, preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years’ related work experience.
  • OSHA 30 and OSHA 510/511 training, preferred.
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish, preferred.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud when operations are in process.
  • Employees will be subject to weather conditions including, but not limited to, rain, wind, heat and cold.
  • Employees are required to wear protective equipment (PPE) as assigned by their designated work area.

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8 hour shift
