JOB SUMMARY (Purpose of Position): This position will be responsible for purchasing for Liberty Safe, as well as the planning and inventory control aspects for the purchased items.

Responsibilities include: 

• Purchases all items necessary as determined by the Purchasing Manager. These items may include but are not limited to the following:
  1. Purchasing direct and/or indirect items, or items that do not go directly into safes:
     • Items necessary for the safety of the Liberty Safe personnel.
     • Expendable tooling for the same personnel.
     • Tools, abrasives, power tools, measuring tools, etc. for the same personnel.
• Generated Purchase Orders will be approved in AX and based on total dollar amounts, will be approved by the Purchasing Manager or higher management.
• Follows up on Purchase Orders, and keeps P.O.s cleaned up, such as closing all old P.O.s, to keep the Open P.O. report accurate and up to date.
• Quotes and re-quotes all items purchased on at least an annual basis, to assure best price.
• Works with the various departments to assure the quality of the purchased items.
• Works with the purchasing manager to assure using approved vendors.
• Reports the expected delivery dates to the applicable personnel.
• Keeps track of inventory levels of items purchased:
  1. Controls and cycle counts the inventory of the purchased items, to assure we do not run out of any needed purchased items, and that we do not carry too many or too few of these items.
  2. Sets up a regular cycle count procedure for the purchased items.
  3. Determines purchasing lead times and calculate usages weekly/monthly usages for all items.
  4. Uses the Purchasing Item Min Max report to calculate when each item needs to be purchased, based on information gathered and on historical data.
  5. Follows Liberty Safe purchasing procedures in order to be compliant to our auditors and owners.

Requirements:

• Minimum of college degree (technical preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 2 years Purchasing experience.
• Analytical thinking and skills for planning based on the available data.
• Results oriented, able to manage by objectives.
• Team oriented, must be able to work effectively with people.
• Strong knowledge of required processes and equipment.
• Effective computer understanding / skills.
• Lean understanding helpful (open to training).
• Steel procurement preferred, but not required.
