Aurora of Central New York is a non-profit in Syracuse, New York with the mission to promote independence and opportunity for people with vision/hearing loss. The agency is affiliated with Liberty Resources Inc., a multi-service national integrated healthcare non-profit, headquartered in Syracuse, New York. Aurora of Central New York is currently seeking a per diem Program Director-Special Projects.Position Summary:The Program Director for Special Projects oversees the Social Support and Work Readiness Program for Hard of Hearing Students, and assists in fundraising and public relations activities. Job Responsibilities: Responsible for the overall management, direction and supervision of the Social Support and Work Readiness Program for Hard of Hearing students.Assist with the fundraising and public relations activities to include live/silent auction, coordination of events and any support needed.Develop and deliver a Social group for elementary/middle aged studentsImplement ACCESS VR Approved Curriculums for students aged 14 and up know as Pre-ET services (Work Readiness, Career Counseling, Self Advocacy, Work Experience Training).Recruit and supervise staff and volunteers to deliver the program.Represent Aurora and maintain working relationships with collaborative partners (ACCESS VR, Syracuse City School District and other potential school districts) to coordinator the program.Complete all reporting and documentation requirements associated with state funding and milestone achievement in accordance with program standards.Assist with overall management of the agency fundraisers and public relations.Manage the silent/live auction for the major agency fundraiser.Secure donors and sponsors with the assistance of staff and the Fund Development Committee.Assist with the development of fundraising materials as needed. Qualifications: Bachelors/Associates and (3) years’ experience with program development and working with students and/or people with disabilities. Knowledge of cultural issues pertaining to individuals with vision/hearing loss. Professional, team-oriented individual who can function well independently and in collaboration with others. Ability to problem-solve in a fast-paced and complex system. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Independent transportation required. Ability to understand and apply disability rights laws and regulations to individual circumstances. Regularly required to sit and use a computer and knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and the internet is required.
