Position SummaryUnder the general supervision of the PhD Psychologist and the Vice President for Developmental Disabilities Services, the Behavior Specialist is responsible for provision of psychological services to individuals of DD services in Onondaga and Madison Counties. Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn conjunction with PhD Psychologist, serves as the clinical representative on the Liberty Resources, Inc. Human Rights Committee. Develops effective behavior tracking tools; instructs program staff on methods to insure consistent, accurate tracking of individual behavioral events.Provides support and consultation in the process of Admission and Discharge of individuals. Assures initial staff orientation and ongoing behavioral planning. Identifies Untoward Incidents; ensures proper incident notification; debriefs staff; coordinates submission of required documentation. Participates in the agency-wide incident review process.Completes all functions required by the agency-wide Quality Improvement process.Demonstrates the values of diversity, equity and belonging; foster an inclusive environment that facilitates diversity.Attends and participates in supervisory conferences, staff meetings, and orientation sessions as required. Serves as an effective communication link between the program and the agency as a whole. QualificationsMS in Psychology or related field; experience treating individuals with co-occurring disorders, behavioral needs and/or as a behavior specialist. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Required Skills and AbilitiesStrong organizational and interpersonal skills. Exhibit strong ability to communicate verbally and in writing and sound knowledge of all matters pertaining to clinical practice. Some programs may require the following: regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb stairs; ability to lift, transfer or physically assist individuals may be required. Must be able to lift objects up to 20lbs frequently and support a person’s body weight as needed for the purposes of physical assistance, personal care and physical management. Possess an exemplary degree of initiative, sound judgment and industry. Should be creative, capable of critical and abstract thinking and open to professional development.
