We’re committed to building a diverse workforce that values contributions of all team members and work to recognize cultural beliefs, values, traditions, language preferences, and health practices of the communities that we serve and how they apply to provision of positive health outcomes.Therapist Position Summary: Under the direct supervision of the program supervisor, the Therapist is primarily responsible for the provision of Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) to families with maladaptive interactions resulting in at least one youth aged 6-18 years who is identified as externalizing behavioral symptoms. Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT) is an evidence-based, multiphasic model that works to change family dynamics over the course of three intervention components: Joining, System Diagnosis, and Restructuring. Therapists establish a therapeutic relationship with the family, observe family interactions and identify interactional patterns, and then design and execute a treatment plan utilizing BSFT techniques and skills. Treatment is provided in the home or a community setting, and has a duration of 3-4 months. Therapist Job Responsibilities:Provides therapeutic counseling in home/community and be flexible to family needsProvides treatment progress information and required reports to supervisor and community partners; DCFS staff, probation officers, and the courts. This can include providing family court testimony if subpoenaedParticipates in quality assurance components built into the BSFT model. Provides case coverage for co-workers as needed Provides culturally responsive services to ensure client self-determination and practices the tenets of cultural humility. Maintains effective professional relationships with other service providers and community organizations in the interest of clients’ and program goals.Identifies and reports on critical and Untoward Incidents as required.Carries out Agency policies and procedures including compliance with HIPAA standards.Completes all necessary written reports, statistics, case files, and summaries in a timely manner and in accordance with program and agency standards. Attends and participates in individual supervisory conferences, staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.Provides door-to-door transportation as required. Ensures safety and welfare of passengers during loading, unloading and transit. Makes use of a personal vehicle for program transportation as required. Handles emergency situations which may require flexibility of time and area of assignment. Performs other duties, responsibilities, and related tasks as assignedTherapist Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mental Health, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, or Psychology preferred. 3-5 years of experience (not necessary to be licensed in NYS). Experience working with family systems preferred.Individuals with a master's degree in a related field, or a bachelor's degree plus three years of experience may be qualified.
