The Overpayment Recovery Specialist is responsible for analyzing dental claims data, seeking reimbursement, and recovering overpayments from providers, third parties, and/or insurance carriers on overpaid dental claims. These claim overpayments are a result of incorrectly paid claims arising from COB issues, data mining, duplicate claim payments, client referrals, etc. Including but not limited to analyzing the overpayment data, and handling disputes and appeals from providers, and navigating difficult collection situations to resolution. Associate will have other coverage expertise for multiple plan types including Medicaid, Medicare and commercial exchange business.

Job Summary Details

  • Analyze insurance policy documents to determine coverage
  • Analyze the overpayment data to determine cause and actions needed to resolve overpayment recovery
  • Handle disputes and appeals from providers
  • Navigate difficult collection situations to resolution
  • Work with interdepartmental LDP teams to ensure positive outcome from COB-TPL coordination and Cost Avoidance
  • May assist Claims Coordinators with inventory and projects
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Distinguishing Characteristics

  • Level I
    • 0-2 years’ experience reviewing claims
    • Understanding of Medicaid line of business
    • Performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to data entry, claim processing, sorting resubmits, and reviewing weekly claim reports
  • Level II
    • Level I Qualifications
    • 2-4 years’ experience reviewing claims
    • Understanding of Medicaid and Medicare lines of business
    • Understanding of contracts in MediTrac
    • Performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to member reimbursement claims, assisting with claims projects, and reviewing weekly claim reports
  • Level III
    • Level I and II Qualifications
    • 4-6 years’ experience reviewing claims
    • Expert at verifying different types of payer coverage and insurance policies
    • Thorough understanding of coordination of benefit primacy rules
    • Ability to apply primacy rules to claim payments
    • Ability to research issues and identify root causes
    • Understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial, and Exchange lines of business
    • Understanding of contracts, office profiles, and vendor profiles in MediTrac
    • Performs other related duties as assigned including but not limited to member reimbursement claims, assisting with claim projects, and researching check requests

Qualifications


Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED, required
  • Bachelors Degree, preferred
  • 2 years' experience working in medical or dental insurance reviewing claims including experience verifying different types of payer coverage and insurance policies

Specific Skills/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of vendors data files and invoice reconciliations
  • Knowledge of dental terminology
  • Ability to analyze insurance policy documents to determine coverage
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively when necessary
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft (Excel, Outlook, Word) and maintain a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute
    • Please be prepared to Complete an Online Skills Assessment as part of the hiring process.
  • Must be detail-oriented and process within a monthly accuracy of 98%
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills

COMPENSATION:

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base hourly rate for this position is $20.93 - $28.25, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at LIBERTY, your final base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any, final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
