The Accounts Receivable Manager (“AR Manager”) will be responsible for overseeing LIBERTY Dental Plan’s (“LIBERTY”) Accounts Receivable department (“AR department”) which handles the company’s generated income.
The AR Manager will work with his or her staff to ensure all money owed to the company is billed and received correctly and in a timely fashion. The AR Manager is responsible for the overall invoicing, collection and cash application activities, timely management of all AR aging components, and financial reporting relating to the AR function. This position is highly visible and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and firmly direct the AR department.


Job Summary Details:

  • Provide excellent service to external and internal customers.
  • Ownership of the full billing/collection/financial close cycle to meet tight deadlines and manage workflow. This includes oversight of monthly invoicing, cash application, and processing monthly collections to control excessive AR aging.
  • As part of the AR cycle, develop familiarity with LIBERTY’s customer base so potential issues are expeditiously recognized and resolved. This includes audit and assessment of customers to verify billing rates in the system agree with contracted rates.
  • The AR Manager will maintain and improve sustained cash flow through diligent and aggressive monitoring of our customer accounts. This should incorporate a no less than weekly review of collections to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and reduce collection cycle times where possible.
  • Perform premium reconciliation to ensure invoiced amounts agree with membership billed for.
  • Liaison between A/R and Eligibility department to address premium reconciliation issues.
  • Assists AR staff with clients to resolve billing and credit issues, eligibility questions, and other invoice questions and/or concerns. This may include initiation of negotiations to resolve disagreements over credit or balances due.
  • Provide support for various audits. These include annual financial audits and client operational audits.
  • Participation in monthly close process in the preparation of revenue entries, revenue and cash collection analytics, creation of financial reports relating to the AR function and status of Accounts Receivable and Deferred Revenue accounts. This will include explanations of variances and adverse trends to management.
  • Ability to manage, mentor, train and evaluate AR staff. This includes monitoring, tracking and enforcing AR and Finance department policies, procedures and goals as they relate to the AR function.
  • Evaluate needs for department AR software, and guide development, testing and implementation.
  • Promotes and supports a teamwork culture and environment.
  • Ensure interactions remain positive and professional with all persons with whom you interact in the course of your work both internally and externally.
  • Maintain a safe and productive working environment following established protocols.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or determined appropriate.


Education / Experience:

  • 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • 6 years prior AR and collection experience, preferably in the health insurance industry.
  • 3 years leadership experience developing high-performing teams.


Skills / Knowledge:

  • Expert knowledge of general ledger accounting and financial reporting of receivables, revenue and cash collections.
  • Strong proficiency working with accounting software programs, including industry standard ERP systems and accounts receivable software.
  • Insurance industry experience desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel with the ability to design reports. PLEASE Be Prepared to Complete Skills Assessments as part of our Hiring Process.
  • GL experience in account reconciliations and closings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of invoice payment reconciliation.
  • Knowledge and ability to oversee billing.
  • Must have the ability to define problems and collect relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to make decisions which have significant impact on the department’s credibility, operations, and services.
  • Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate and explore alternative solutions.

COMPENSATION

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at LIBERTY, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any, final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
