The Opportunity

In a Nutshell:

You will be responsible for providing professional, friendly high-level customer service and operational support to custo­mers. Inquiries will be in person, via incoming calls, email or mail. You must love people to offer answers to customer questions and identify cross-sell opportunities by assessing customer needs. You will work directly with customers in all areas of operations (e.g. checking and savings inquiries, loan payments, wires, transfers, CDs, etc.).

What it Takes:

  • Independently open new deposit accounts for customers. Explain and review all account documentation and assume responsibility for proper documentation execution. Send documentation to the customer and follow up on receipt.
  • Recognize referral opportunities and effectively cross-sell bank products and services.
  • Provide customers with account, product and service information in response to inquiries; resolve problems in an accurate and timely manner to ensure quality service and customer retention.
  • Research, analyze and resolve operational problems on customer accounts and provides suggestions regarding various Bank services and products.
  • Provide operational support to Bank officers regarding their customer accounts. Research transactions and resolve errors.
  • Input, update and maintain customer records and file on the Banks core processing system.
  • Process and follow up on new check orders, etc.
  • If needed, perform Customer Service Representative duties of processing, paying and receiving transactions, preparing and processing incoming and outgoing wire transfers, foreign drafts and accepting and verifying large merchant transactions. Ensure customer and teller transactions are processed properly.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge and may train others on products, services, departmental systems, and related technology, policies and procedures.
  • Bring any suspicious activity to the attention of a supervisor, or the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Follow all Bank policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Understand and adhere to regulatory guidelines including but not limited to FCRA, BSA, GLBA, etc. as the regulations pertain to the employee's job function.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

What are you great at:


  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in customer service or operations management function of a bank or financial institution.
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience working independently with new accounts in a bank or financial institute. Commercial accounts preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of bank products and services and support systems.
  • Strong Customer Service Skills and being able to recognize referral opportunities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and to work independently.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, including ability to deal professionally with branch issues, problems, and questions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy; good organizational, research and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of customers, staff, and management.
  • Ability to work successfully in a deadline driven, team environment.
  • Strong Banking Software Skills required (Fiserv preferred). Ability to stay up-to-date on software changes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
