Position Description
The Information Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical information and information systems that support operations. This specialist develops and implements policies and procedures to protect information systems against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction. They conduct risk and vulnerability assessments, manage security controls, and ensure compliance with DoD and federal information assurance standards and regulations. The role often involves coordinating with other IT and cybersecurity teams to implement effective security measures, conduct security audits, and respond to incidents. Information Assurance Specialists also play a key role in disaster recovery planning and business continuity strategies.
Requires Security Clearance : TS/SCI position. Personnel must possess a final DoD-granted TS with SCI eligibility.
Education : High School diploma/GED
Certification : CSSP or CASP
Experience :
  • Minimum relevant experience of ten (10) years.
  • A minimum of eight years of directly related experience in the development of Navy RMF accreditation packages
    1. Detailed knowledge of Navy RMF requirements
    2. Experience in the development and tracking of required accreditation artifacts
    3. DoD/DON Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) experience as they relate to Navy Authorizing Official (NAO) system and network authorization based on the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Demonstrated capability to capture, document, and track accreditation-required documents, including interviewing stakeholders to gather supporting documentation, aligning documentation to requirements, and interpreting RMF controls.
  • Excellent writing skills
