This position will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys with all aspects of trademark prosecution, maintenance, and enforcement. Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Conduct comprehensive trademark clearance searches and analyze results to identify potential conflicts.
Assist attorneys with preparing and filing trademark applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in order to prosecute, maintain, and enforce trademarks.
Monitor the status of trademark applications and respond to USPTO communications.
Draft and prepare trademark-related documents, including correspondence with clients, foreign associates, and the USPTO.
Manage domestic and foreign prosecution for multiple clients
Manage and maintain electronic and paper trademark files and databases.
Assist with trademark enforcement efforts, including monitoring for infringement and preparing cease and desist letters (as directed by attorneys).
Conduct legal research related to trademark law and prepare summaries and memoranda for attorney review.
Arrange for legalization (by consulate or Apostille) of assignments for recording foreign trademark and patent offices
Performs due diligence ownership searches on trademarks, copyrights, and domain names in connection with corporate and finance transactions
Prepare draft of UDRP complaints and assists with filling and associated actions.
Prepare draft copyright applications and assists with filing with Copyright Office.
Stay current with developments in trademark law and practice.
Qualifications:
5 years of experience as a Trademark Paralegal
Experience with and knowledge of USPTO and TTAB rules and procedures and familiarity with international trademark filing procedures and conducting due diligence reviews of Intellectual Property
Experience drafting correspondence and diligence memoranda, and preparing of worldwide assignments and recordings
Strong understanding of trademark law principles and procedures.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal research databases.
Experience mentoring or training paralegals (preferred)
Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
