About the Job

The Safety and Training Coordinator is responsible for accident and incident administration, including documentation and record keeping. The Safety and Training Coordinator also delivers high-quality training across the agency, as assigned. The Safety and Training Coordinator is required to obtain and hold a commercial driver’s license (CDL).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

  • Enters and updates accidents, incidents, and injuries into databases or software programs; interacts with external partners, including insurance companies and attorneys, to properly maintain records.
  • Conduct training, as assigned, to any Lextran employee. Training tasks might include incidents and accidents, on-boarding new trainees, commercial driver’s licensing, or special training topics.
  • Files and monitors the status of liability, property, and worker's compensation insurance claims.
  • Reports monthly National Transit Database (NTD) information.
  • Reviews daily operational accident/incident reports for potential liability claims.
  • Creates, views, and edits vehicular video events in software programs.
  • Assists the Designated Employee Representative with Drug and Alcohol Program compliance.
  • Assist the Training Manager with EEO compliance orientation, Drug-Free Workplace, and other training programs, as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of all changing policies and procedures to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Key Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work occasional night and weekend hours.

  • High level of proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office.

  • Skilled to work effectively independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate degree in a related field, such as public administration, insurance, transportation, business administration, project management, etc.
  • Three (3) years of experience in transit, training, or safety functions required.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possession of (or ability to get) a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and an acceptable driving record.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • Frequently communicates with personnel, visitors, and customers.
  • Frequently remains in a sitting position at a desk.
  • Frequently uses the computer with fingers and hands.
  • Frequently works in a well-lit, tempered room.
  • Occasionally exposed to outside elements.
  • Occasionally lifts objects weighing up to fifty (25) pounds.
  • May be required to stoop, bend, or kneel.
