Human Resources Manager
Reports to: Board of Directors
Pay: Commensurate upon Experience
Hours: Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm, Friday, 8am-4:30pm
Job responsibilities
  • Designs and oversees an effective performance management process for employees.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring, and appraisal of employee is effective and timely.
  • Maintains a pay plan for all employees by conducting periodic pay surveys, scheduling and conducting job evaluations, preparing pay budgets, monitoring and scheduling individual pay action, and implementing appropriate pay structure revisions. Monitors wage and salary administration and maintains competitive and equitable compensation costs.
  • Monitors the risk management program, safety program, and safety standards and practices. Disseminates applicable safety laws and orders, and maintains appropriate records as required by statute or administrative ruling. Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and contemporary machines best related to safety.
  • Actively and constructively participates as a member of the senior leadership team.
  • Works with managerial and supervisory personnel to provide appropriate training and skill development support for hourly personnel participating in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Designs, implements, and monitors employee benefit plans. Ensures that benefit plans are competitive (in the market place) and cost effective.
  • Contributes to maintaining an appropriate work force by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; consulting other management and supervisory personnel on candidate selection; and conducting and analyzing exit interviews.
  • Develops and administers an effective recruitment program.
  • Directs and oversees an appropriate personnel record keeping system, including compliance with all appropriate reporting and retention laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for multiple plant operations within the Human Resource Department.
  • Maintains a current knowledge of applicable laws, ruling, and regulations, and recommends appropriate change in company practice and procedure to assure continued compliance.
  • Formulates and approves policies on personnel administration and industrial relations, and administers such policies appropriately and uniformly.
  • Directs and performs special projects and surveys as may from time to time be required to facilitate the sound administration of the department.
  • Monitors workers’ compensation claims and coordinates work between employee and insurance carrier.
  • Serves as EEO specialist.
  • Monitors unemployment claims and assists departments with appeals.
  • Assists in the development and recommendation of sound labor relations policies in order to maintain a favorable climate, stable labor force, and optimal labor costs.
  • Coordinates grievance hearings and activities.
  • Has an optimistic attitude with a strong emotional balance, and who possess the ability to motivate and activate people.
  • Predictable relative to values and decision-making processes.
  • Receptive to criticism.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
