SUMMARY:
The Pathology Assistant I will perform gross examination of specimens, assist with patient education and performance of bone marrows, perform differential counts on bone marrow aspirations, assist with radiologic FNA’s, assist with Frozen sections when necessary and assist with other technical duties of the pathologist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a baccalaureate degree with a major or minor in biologic or allied health field: ASCP registered or eligible; minimum 4 years lab experience with knowledge of Hematology morphology; ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and physicians.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; handle small objects; distinguish colors visual acuity.
