SUMMARY:
The Scheduler/Data Entry Assistant is responsible for entering all surgical procedures into the medical software program, communicating equipment, staffing and ancillary needs to the RN Coordinator and Manager, screening non-approved procedures or procedures not indicated on a surgeon’s delineation of privileges list.
Performs inventory system duties as follows; assists Inventory Specialist, Manager, Administrator and Director of Nursing to
coordinate tracking and management of inventory. This includes maintenance of preference cards and other data tools used for analysis.
Performs information system duties as follows; works with Management team to enter and track data related to, but not
limited to, cases, supplies/implants, complications, indicator codes for procedures, cost and time management; assists in compiling reports and benchmarking. Prepares billing sheets and submits to Coding/Reimbursement.
The Scheduler/Data Entry Assistant will be cross-trained in other functions of the front office and reports directly to the Administrator.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum high school graduate or GED. Demonstrated ability to type 45 wpm. Comprehension of medical
terminology. Minimum one (1) year scheduling experience in an ambulatory surgery facility, acute care hospital or
physician office. An understanding and successful application of and experience with data collection and analysis in a clinical setting. Experience using scheduling software. Excellent communication skills, competency in oral and written skills. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day, motor coordination and manual dexterity; corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
