Job Title: Garden Center Associate
Reports to: Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Floor Manager
Status: Non-Exempt
***Seasonal shifts indoors and for our garden centers start now and go through approximately mid July 2024. Increasing hours will be available closer to spring/summer.
***Preferred start date prior to May 12th (Mother's Day).
Summary
The Garden Center Associate supports the smooth operation of the Garden Center by providing positive and friendly customer service to our guests. He or she will answer questions pertaining to outdoor living and live goods and consult with lead experts as needed. The Garden Center Associate will nurture and display merchandise and live goods in the designated departments. Accurate operation of a cash register is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet all customers with a smile and friendly attitude
- Record prices, subtotal taxable items, and total purchases on cash register
- Collect acceptable forms of payment from customer and make change for cash transactions
- Stock shelves, counters, and tables with merchandise and live goods per plan-o-gram
- Assist in setting up advertising displays to promote sales
- Maintain knowledge of weekly ad
- Stamp, mark or tag prices on merchandise
- Review price sheets to note price changes and sale items
- Maintain a neat and clean register area
- Must be willing to work in all weather conditions (i.e. rain, wind, extreme heat/humidity, sun)
- Additional duties assigned by management

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required (or in progress)
- Ability to handle transactions accurately and responsibly
- Basic math and computer skills
- Horticulture or landscaping background/knowledge is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
- Must be able to constantly operate a cash register
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally with or without accommodation
