General Description
The Transportation Specialist is responsible for providing daily support to Receiving and Shipping teams by organizing incoming and outgoing shipment activities.
About The Job
- $20/HR
- Schedule inbound and outbound shipments based on the site’s operational schedule
- Act as primary point of contact for carrier account representatives, including handling claims and freight payments
- Maintain detailed records and files, paper and electronic
- Respond to various types of inquiries (verbal, email, telephone), including conducting any necessary research and resolving any issues concerning shipments
- Review and verify bills of lading on all shipments
- Utilize and maintain yard management system
- Communicate and track all shipment exceptions, including trailer and unit level
- Actively participate in and promote site safety initiatives
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and safe workspace
- Complete pre/post shift inspection of assigned work area and/or equipment
- Attend daily production meeting and participate in pre-shift health & safety requirements (i.e., stretching, ensuring proper PPE)
- Perform related tasks or complete special projects that align to the site and company’s strategic business plans
- High School Diploma or G.E.D
- General knowledge of automated warehouse and inventory practices
- Comfortable working in a high volume, fast paced environment where priorities can shift quickly
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment
- Stand and/or walk during shift, plus ability to bend, squat, lift (up to 50 pounds), push, pull, reach with or without reasonable accommodation
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills
- Energetic, positive, and helpful demeanor, along with good communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills
- Demonstrated exemplary attendance and work habits
- Knowledgeable regarding lean manufacturing and change management (5S, Gemba, Kata, Muda, etc.)
- General knowledge of warehouse management systems; Manhattan WMOS preferred
- Knowledge of how to use business intelligence and reporting platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, etc)
