Level The Playing Field Group is Hiring a Program Coordinator Near Chapel Hill, NC

About the Program:

Level the Playing Field (LTPF) is a 2020 Carolina spin-out that prepares corporate America for the workforce of the future by recruiting minority, STEM undergraduate students and placing them into influential internships with major corporate and hospital partners (e.g. Merck, SAS, Eli Lilly, Microsoft). As a student development program, LTPF empowers young, diverse talent to assume leadership positions in the new age of innovation and growth by providing personal and professional development through a year-long, three-phase program. The organization currently operates in 6 historically black and primarily white universities across North Carolina and has graduated >40 students from the program. 100% of LTPF alumni are either working in full-time careers related to their fields or in graduate/medical school. LTPF partners with many companies and academic institutions, bridging the divide between underserved, low-income communities and professional opportunities, inspiring individuals to become local changemakers.

Position Expectations:

LTPF has an incredible opportunity available for a Program Coordinator (half-time transitioning to full-time) located in the Research Triangle Park/Chapel Hill area. The Program Coordinator will serve as the right-hand to the organization’s President/CEO, operating the programmatic curriculum that LTPF provides to its minority undergraduates and overseeing daily functions and administrative tasks that keep the program running smoothly. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Planning and organizing events (e.g. venue rental, catering, decorations)
  • Tracking agreements formed with corporate/academic partners to ensure completion
  • Recruiting students and mentors at the beginning of the year
  • Identifying and drafting grant opportunities and materials
  • Communicating with students and mentors to ensure understanding, attendance, etc
  • Organizing and facilitating workshops for students, providing meeting links when needed
  • Coordinating speaker accommodations and workshop needs
  • Managing the meeting calendar (e.g. scheduling meetings, providing Zoom/Teams links, leading or facilitating meetings)
  • Designing and teaching class material and curriculum for students
  • Identifying new partnerships and corresponding with both new and current partnerships
  • Overseeing the LTPF social media and website (e.g. design marketing materials, editing brief videos, updating the website)

Job Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication, both formal and informal
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a small team and independently
  • Prior experience as an educator or mentor
  • Proficiency in Zoom, Microsoft Office Tools, and Slack 
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and tasks that may overlap
  • Flexible and able to respond professionally to emerging situations or issues
  • Ability to engage comfortably with various stakeholders and group sizes

Benefits & Logistics:

  • Salary and Wages: This role will receive pay at an hourly rate of $18-$25 per hour
  • Company Benefits: The Program Coordinator will be an employee of LTPF’s fiscal sponsor, Community Initiatives, and is able to receive:

  • Duration of Position: The ideal candidate will join for at least one year and begin in Summer 2024
  • Weekly Commitment: This position will first work 20 hours per week and then transition to 35-40 hours per week
