Lesaffre Group is Hiring a QC Analyst Near Rapids, IA

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

  • Assists in method transfers and method validation in coordination with methods group.
  • Assists in coordination of the workload in lab including stability, raw materials, finished product, and special requests
  • Reviews and investigates laboratory and in-process manufacturing failures. Completes appropriate documentation and assigns disposition. 
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability and characteristics of materials.
  • Assists in coordinating and delegating laboratory testing by setting priorities based on the needs of operations.
  • Assists in training and coordinating the activities of other technicians as assigned.
  • Revises and creates SOPs as needed.
  • Tests materials as assigned by priority using analytical instrumentation such as pH meter, Risograph, Nitrogen Analyzer, HPLC, ICP-OES, auto titrators, balances, etc.
  • Records and evaluates data and documentation for completeness. 
  • Independently sets up, runs, and troubleshoots instrumentation.
  • Provides guidance, mentoring and training to laboratory technician team.
  • Organize and plan studies/projects/new methods, complete required analysis, organize data, complete summary reports
  • Performs various housekeeping duties in the lab including disposing of hazardous waste and instrument PM and calibrations.
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements
  • Perform the necessary functions of the Lab Supervisor as needed
  • Interacts with departmental and interdepartmental personnel to solve product issues.
  • Able to perform all duties of Lab Technicians, and cover for Lab Technicians periodically

 Excellent time management, meeting deadlines, attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills, listening, decision-making, troubleshooting/problem solving and organization skills required. Must possess strong organizational and leadership skills, be a self-starter and able to handle multiple tasks. Must possess professional attitude and be able to work well with peers and management. Ability to mentor and train personnel.

DEPUTY

The deputies for this position are the Lab Superintendent & Lab Supervisor

This position serves as a deputy for the following positions: Lab Supervisor & Lab Technicians

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Directly supervises projects and equipment in the Laboratory Department. Carries out position responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include: setting up studies/projects/new methods, completing required analysis, organizing data, completing summary reports, training technicians on new or revised methods, setting up new equipment, validating new equipment prior to use, reviewing equipment/sample controls, completing and organizing equipment maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, supervising internal and external required calibrations for all Lab equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Understand and follow all environmental regulations for the area in which they work.

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires chemistry lab experience. The ability to use MS Windows particularly MS Office programs. The ability to prioritize and organize tasks. Decision to repeat tests may be made independently or directed by manager. Must be able to follow written procedures, be organized, precise, observant, efficient, and capable of working with minimal supervision. Must be able to perform several tasks simultaneously while maintaining accurate timing and procedures for each task. Must be detail oriented and safety minded.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS 

Ability to be CPR/First Aid certified required.
