POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Support the planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prioritize classroom visits in order to support the teachers and assist with their retention.
  • Support teachers in the daily implementation of all curriculum and instructional related elements.
  • Ability to create and maintain positive and supportive relationships with the School Leader and school staff.
  • Conduct classroom walkthroughs and observations for the purpose of support, identifying areas of strengths, weaknesses and professional development needs of the classroom teacher. Provide feedback.
  • Implement and support the IAP goals quarterly as part of the coach’s growth.
  • Select appropriate instructional practices for various student groups to support all teachers.
  • Clear understanding of how to appropriately use diagnostic tools and formative assessments to determine appropriate instruction.
  • Familiar with a variety of instruments, technology tools and other resources for assessing and enhancing student performance
  • Will recognize the need for and knowledge of how to train staff to map and align the curriculum.
  • Ensure alignment between the locally implemented written curriculum and the state frameworks.
  • Disaggregate student data for instructional planning and professional development.
  • Ensure alignment between the written, implemented, and assessed curriculum; as aid in the development of pacing guides.
  • Ensure the development of weekly lesson plans; mentor teachers in the development and implementation of those lesson plans.
  • Meet with teachers on a weekly basis during PLC.
  • Assist teachers in using data to design student instruction and assessment.
  • Actively attend and participate in all scheduled curriculum coach meetings and related best practices activities/opportunities, and to share the acquired knowledge through formal and informal professional development opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and state
  • Single subject teaching credential or certification if teaching a specialized subject
  • Relevant teaching experience
  • Knowledge of relevant technology
  • IVP Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, chemicals, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
