Unit Details:
- Patient to Nurse Ratio: 4:1, with a seasonal rotating ratio of 5:1.
- Beds: Cardiac Surgical PCU has 36 beds, while the Cardiac Heart Failure Unit has 29 beds.
- Patient Population: Our units offer nurses the opportunity to care for a diverse patient population, providing exposure to a wide variety of diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.
Common Diagnoses & Exposures:
- Cardiothoracic Surgery: CABG, Valve replacements, TAVR, thoracotomy, VATS, lobectomy, and lung resection
- Heart Failure, Arrhythmia, Cardiac monitoring
- Chest tubes, Pacemakers & Defibrillators
- Pre & Post Cardiac Catheterization
- Cardiac drips, Central lines
- Removal of pacing wires, chest tubes, and various lines
