SUMMARY: The Paralegal will assist attorney(s) by providing administrative, clerical and research support services for various matters associated with indirect automobile sales financing, including litigation management, business license maintenance/compliance, consumer complaint handling, dealer recourse, and subpoena responses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Litigation Management

  • Record initial receipt of litigation, arbitration, or attorney demand and associated information
  • Research allegations
  • Inform impacted business units for necessary action
  • Review discovery requests and gather relevant documentation
  • Initial review of pleadings and motions
  • Communicate with outside counsel and provide instruct, as necessary

Business License Maintenance/Compliance

  • Update internal license tracking
  • File renewals as necessary
  • Assist General Counsel with any regulatory examinations

Consumer Complaint Handling

  • Record initial receipt of consumer complaint and associated information
  • Identify and research issues
  • Draft response, as necessary

Dealer Recourse

  • Record initial request to draft dealer demand letter
  • Gather relevant information
  • Prepare dealer demand letter for General Counsel’s review

Subpoena Response

  • Record initial receipt of subpoenas or other requests for business records
  • Gather responsive documents and draft response

Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years of general paralegal experience required
  • Minimum 2 years of general civil litigation experience required
  • In-house and consumer finance experience a plus
  • Notary public a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with high level of attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of legal language and principles, research methods, court pleadings and processes, and other related matters
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise discretion and good judgment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Pay Range:

Base salary: $26.00-$31.00 per hour
