Under general direction, facilitates quality improvements by developing methods and procedures to improve and maintain product quality standards.Gathers and analyzes data to plan, coordinate and report quality improvements. Troubleshoots quality problems. Participates in projects for production application. Develops methods for testing, sampling and training. Conducts internal quality controls concerning particular areas or company products to ensure quality procedures and norms are met. Monitors and records inconsistencies with quality procedures and norms. Prepares complex quality analyses and recommends necessary quality procedure changes. Prepares reports on rejected or defective products. Works with quality inspection supervisors to train and oversee inspectors in their use of control forms, procedures, and correcting quality problems. May provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced engineers.
Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires at least 5 years related experience.Work involves the application of more complex engineering principles to develop methods and procedures to improve and maintain product quality standards. Competencies in SPC, Capability Studies, and Six Sigma.
