Full Job Description
We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced guardianship paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Florida guardianship law and procedures, with the ability to assist attorneys in all aspects of guardianship cases including discovery and contest legal matters. This position requires attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, court personnel, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
1. Assist attorneys in preparing guardianship petitions, pleadings, and other legal documents.
2. Conduct legal research on Florida guardianship law and relevant case law.
3. Communicate with clients to gather necessary information and provide updates on case status.
4. Prepare and file documents with the appropriate court and ensure compliance with all procedural requirements.
5. Provide support during guardianship hearings, including preparing exhibits and assisting with witness coordination.
6. Maintain accurate and organized digital case files, including documentation of client communications and court filings entered into the Firm’s case management software program.
7. Assist with the preparation of required reports for guardianship cases.
8. Monitor deadlines and ensure timely completion of all necessary tasks.
9. Collaborate with attorneys and other paralegals to ensure efficient case management and client service.
Skills
1. Strong knowledge of Florida guardianship law, court procedures, and legal terminology.
2. Proficiency in legal research, including the use of online databases and resources.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys, clients, staff and court personnel.
4. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with share-point and Clio case management an asset.
7. Compassionate and empathetic approach when working with clients and families in sensitive situations.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Salary based upon experience and paid PTO/vacation offered.
