JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Psychiatrist 

Reports To: Director of Clinical Services

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt 

SUMMARY 

This position will provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation and treatment as well as medication management services to adults with intellectual disabilities. They will act as a vital member of the interdisciplinary team within PICS. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Assessing and providing therapeutic services to patients in a variety of clinical settings.
• Prescribing, recommending, or discontinuing medications and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
• Collaborating with interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care.
• Participating in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions.
• Providing consultation and health education to patients, staff, and caregivers as it is relative to the treatment and medication needs of PICS patients.
• Documenting all services performed for accurate billing for services provided in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws.
• Preparing and submitting assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required.
• Completing other duties as may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE for a PSYCHIATRIC NURSE PRACTITIONER 

• Active Licensure in PA as a Psychiatrist.
• Graduation from a state-certified advance practice program specializing in psychiatry/mental health
• 1-2 years providing direct client care to persons receiving treatment for psychiatric disorders

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE for a PHYSICIAN’S ASSISTANT 

• Doctorate in Psychiatric Medicine
• Licensure in PA as a Psychiatrist by the State Board of Medicine 

HOURS OF WORK

Part Time or Contract, including evening and weekends.

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals and work instructions. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and communicate well with customers and staff.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES 

Must have customer service skills and the ability to work independently 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• An unrestricted license to practice as a psychiatrist 
• Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with the assistance of Provident credentialing staff.

Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to file documents or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 50 pounds.
