Aerospace

At L&P Aerospace, we specialize in creating complex tube and duct assemblies using high-performance materials capable of withstanding extreme pressure, temperature, and chemical interaction.

After our materials have gone through the necessary processes, we are left with high-performance finished goods that are ready to be incorporated into assemblies for our customers.

Our Middletown, CT branch has an immediate opening for a Calibration Technician.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be responsible to ensure gages and fixtures needed to execute manufacturing jobs to meet customer requirements are calibrated and managed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Inspect fabrication fixtures using FARO CMM or equivalent as needed to support production
• Maintain accurate control and accountability of inspection gages issued to manufacturing floor.
• Maintains functionality, calibration specifications and safe condition by performing frequent inspections of gages for wear, defects and/or damage.
• Perform and document calibrations on specified inspection gages.
• Assure gages are checked-in and out in a controlled and traceable manner.
• Update logs, crib sheets and gage lists.
• Understand and use the following basic decision making process so quality and timely decisions will be made that are supported and understood relative to the essential functions or the impact thereon:
• Requesting or determining that a decision or action need to be made (the requestors are not necessarily the decision maker(s);
• Involving the “right people”, including those affected by the potential decision and those who have meaningful knowledge so they can contribute facts and opinions, if need be;
• Identifying a criteria for a successful decision, including the likely risks; and
• Determining and communicating how the decision making will be made (e.g. unanimous, consensus, single decision maker)
• Work with Engineering and Quality in the inspection planning process to identify and obtain gages required to inspect new products
• Utilize electronic gage recall software systems and ERP planning systems
• Coordinate purchase inspection equipment and calibration services with Purchasing and Outside Service supplier
• Provide support and expertise during regulatory and customer audits of calibration system
• Maintain gage crib area procedures and work instructions
• Recommend and implement process improvements

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

• 1 years Quality Control experience
• Familiarty with Faro Arm and/or CMM is a plus
• Familiarity with gages and measurement techniques
• Previous manufacturing experience, preferably in aerospace
• Able to understand and interpret blueprints, specifications, operations sheets, etc.
• Understands geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
• Computer literate (Windows, MS Office, E-mail, etc.)
• Self-starter who is comfortable with hands-on activities
