Inventory Planning Manager

The Manager of Inventory Planning will oversee daily order processing, the measurement and accuracy of inventory levels, and the internal controls of inventory by working as an effective business partner challenging business inventory plans to be at justified levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inventory reporting will be a critical task for this role and communication with effective salient comments
  • Monitor business performance and work with cross functional partners in buying and merchandise planning to develop action plans to improve in stocks and end of period Open to Buy goals.
  • Own the inventory plan in partnership with buying and merchandise planning to ensure financial and in stock goals are realized
  • Develop continuous improvement mindset looking for opportunities to optimize key inventory parameters (forecasts, lead times, order cycles…) across the internal team and vendor community
  • Partner with Supply Chain and vendors to ensure effective and timely flow of inventory to meet metrics
  • Work with Senior Management to ensure that plans support company goals
  • Communicating risks and opportunities in Merchandising to key stakeholders
  • Maintain effective communication and collaborate with internal business partners to drive the business and tell the story
  • Ensure controls and processes are in place and followed by the organization around shrink and obsolescence.
  • Challenge internal stakeholders on efficient buying volumes to match demand
  • Research and resolve order processing calculations, and system functionality related to inventory transactions.
  • Coordinate, supervise, lead, and manage the workload of the Inventory Specialist, Sr Inventory Specialist, and cycle count positions.
  • Scheduling of event replenishments with Distribution Center and buying groups.
  • Work with AP to resolve issues regarding vendor invoices. Cost variances, receiving variances, etc.
  • Manage physical inventory counts and cycle counts throughout the year.
  • Enter inventory adjustments, write offs, and damages.
  • Create and reconcile settlements for third party events. This includes start counts, end counts, and sales posting.
  • Analyze the kit production process and detail review of the average costs of products.
  • Research and resolve order processing calculations, and system functionality related to inventory transactions.
  • Coordinate, supervise, lead, and manage the workload of the Inventory Specialist, Sr Inventory Specialist, and cycle count positions.
  • Apply loss prevention techniques and develop procedures to safeguard assets.
  • Prepare in depth analysis and reporting on inventory transactions and balances.
  • Month end/Year end accounting reconciliations. 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, the candidate must be able to perform each essential duty above at the highest levels. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Associates or four-year college degree in Finance or Accounting is preferred
  • Buying background with the knowledge of procurement processes would be beneficial
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in accounting or finance or inventory related area
  • Knowledge of retail industry preferred with strong understanding of supply chain buying processes
  • Experience leading and managing a team
  • Advanced technical knowledge of an accounting ERP system, data processing and Microsoft Excel
  • Multi-task oriented with desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Desire to learn and advance
  • Effective communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong organization, decision making and critical reasoning skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
